Bible Verses about Fatherhood

Bible verses about fatherhood

  • Ephesians 6:4: "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."
  • Proverbs 3:11-12: "My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights."
  • Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
  • Deuteronomy 6:6-7: "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."
  • 2 Samuel 7:14: "I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will discipline him in the usual ways, the pitfalls and obstacles of this mortal life. But I will never remove my gracious love from him."
  • Psalm 103:13: "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."

These verses teach us that fathers play an important role in their children's lives. They are responsible for disciplining their children, teaching them about God, and modeling Christ-like behavior. Fathers are also called to love their children unconditionally and to provide for them financially and emotionally.
